Message from the President

As I often say to my students, I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as your new NCMATYC President.   I attended my first NCMATYC conference as an adjunct faculty and was very impressed by the conference. I remember being accepted and supported by the leadership of NCMATYC. I remember feeling empowered by learning new things that would help me grow professionally in my field.  At that moment I wanted to be a part of and become involved with NCMATYC. So here I am as your NCMATYC President ready to serve You!

I would like to thank the 2012-2014 NCMATYC Executive Board for its leadership as the state of North Carolina took on multiple initiatives within the past few years.  NCMATYC provided a support system as we embarked on this journey of the Developmental Math Redesign and the Math Curriculum Improvement Project (CIP).  NCMATYC provided the vehicle for discussion and collaboration. Most importantly, NCMATYC has and will continue to provide a support system as we continue to make strides in improving student retention and success.  NCMATYC will remain the organization that speaks for the mathematics community of all fifty-eight community colleges represented in the state of North Carolina.

What can NCMATYC do for you?

  1. Establish and maintain channels of communication with other math faculty across the state of NC.
  2. Provide professional development and support for its members.
  3. Provide resources to develop effective mathematics courses.
  4. Improve the mathematics-related experiences of the two-year college student.
  5. Support members in achieving excellence in mathematics education.

NCMATYC needs you!  I look forward to seeing you at our Annual Spring Conference at Pitt Community College, Greenville, NC on March 12th and 13th, 2015.   This is an exciting time to attend a conference that caters to our professional needs as we continue to put North Carolina on the map for Student Success in mathematics.  Please make sure you check our website, and view any emails from for all information regarding registration, membership, presentations, and hotel accommodations. I encourage you to attend and I look forward to a meet and greet with all of you.

Thank you so much for allowing me to serve as your NCMATYC President! I am eager to maintain and build new relationships for NCMATYC as an organization.
